Veteran actor Om Puri has passed away after a massive heart attack on 6th January 2017.

He was one of the most versatile actor, He won Padma Shri Award, National award for Ardh satya & Arohan, Filmfare award for Best Supporting actor for Aakrosh and many more. He also received several International awards for his acting : Best Actor - Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Best Actor - Brussels International Film Festival,Grand Prix Special des Amériques - Montreal World Film Festival .He was mainly known for his work in art films than in main stream cinema.
He known for his variety of role & unconventional ideas in cinema since 80's. He was Praised for his outstanding roles from oppressed and victimized tribal man in “Aakrosh” to playing a police officer in “Ardh Satya” to playing a militant in “Maachis”.
He also worked in international film like “East is East”, “Gandhi” which brought him much into the notice at the international cinema.
Family : Om Puri was married to Seema Kapoor sister of Actor Annu Kappor, The couple got divorce & than he married to Nandita Puri, With Nandita puri he has a son Ishaan Puri.
Personal details : Om puri born in Ambala in a Punjabi family October 18, 1950. His father worked in the railways & in the Indian Army, Om Puri graduated from the Film and Television Institute of Inda, Pune.
